Compost Improves Turfgrass.
These advantages are due to the living organisms in the
compost, as well as the partially degraded materials that provide
compost's bulk. When microorganisms in the soil further degrade
compost, it becomes humus, a gel-like mixture of soil materials,
remnants of microbes, and organic
matter.

Topdressing is needed because
any and all traffic is compacting the soil. In compacting the soil (
foot traffic, mowing, animals) the root growth is
hampered.
Topdressing consist of mowing the lawn
shorter, aeration, application of topdressing material, dragging the
aeration cores and the topdressing material into the aeration holes
and level unevenness of the lawn and possible application of
grass seeds, possible total grass renovation AND
WATERING.
